Last year, I was part of a teacher inquiry group which focused on building community in our classrooms. In order to continue with this during the current school year, I decided to introduce my class to the "Marshmallow Challenge." It was very interesting to have students complete the challenge and to reflect on the group work which followed. I'm always amazed by how reflective students are when it comes to thinking about group dynamics and the roles they play in collaborative activities. This is something that we will constantly revisit as the year progresses. In order to build a culture of inquiry, and create a positive learning environment, I really feel that it is important to focus on developing our sense of classroom community all year long.

This is a great pro-d team building activity, as well!
